Banana Boat
camping recipe

Category: Desserts   Rating: 8.9
Backpacking: No Effort: easy Serves: 5-6 Prep time: 1-30m

Ingredients:
  • 6 Medium Bananas
  • 6 Sheets 12" x 12" tin foil
  • 6 Tbsp Mini Chocolate Chips.
  • 6 Tbsp Mini Marshmellows

How to Prepare:
Leave the banana in the peel. Hold lengthwise. Slice through the skin and halfway through the banana end to end. Make same incision about 1/2 an inch away. Peal back the sliced peel, leaving the skin still attched. Carve out trench in middle of banana. Fill with one tablespoon each marshmellows and chocolate chips. Replace peel. Hold "trench-side up" and place on tin foil.
Wrap banana lengthwise - keeping the fold of the foil over the trench. (this makes it easier to check if it is done)
Place on hot coals or near fire.
You know it is done when the chocolate chips are starting to melt.

For my little Brownie troop we used the small banannas worked better. Also I sprayed pam inside the foil the Marsh and Chocolate will not stick.

CAMPING TIP

My tip is .. All those pudgy pie makers , roasting forks and fire pokers make a mess, get in the way and need a home for storage when you arn't camping or for making their way to and from your camp site without getting everything black and dirty .. I found that using a folding chair bag fits everything wonderful; keeps them all nice and tidy nobody gets hurt they have a home and you know where everything is.
