Beer Stewed Venison

Category: Wild Game   Rating: N/A
Backpack: No Effort: average Serves: any Prep time: 1-30m

Ingredients:
  • strips of venison, preferably loin
  • can of beer, preferably Budweiser or High Life

How to Prepare:
Pour beer in a shallow pan and add strips of venison. Cover, then cook over flame until beer boils. Flip as needed, it's done when the meat is browned with only a slight pink hue running in the middle. Alcohol will evaporate, so be sure to add more beer as you cook.

CAMPING TIP

Don't like huge numbers of moths, mayflies, etc around your lantern at night? Hang that bright fuel lantern 30 feet or more to the side of your site, then use a softer light battery lantern in the human zone. You'll still benefit some from the big lantern, and the battery one will suffice in any case, but all the night bugs will be drawn to the brighter light, leaving you more than relatively bug-free.
