Cheesy Taters
camping recipe

Category: Vegetables   Rating: N/A
Backpacking: No Effort: easy Serves: any Prep time: 1-30m

Ingredients:
  • 1 bag fresh hash browns(not frozen)
  • stick of butter
  • 1large pkg. shredded sharp chedder cheese
  • nonstick cooking spray

How to Prepare:
Spray a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil with nonstick spray. Arrange hash browns in center of foil and mix in 3/4 of cheese with potatoes. Next cut butter into pats and spread throughout hashbrowns.
Sprinkle remaining cheese over potatoes. Fold foil around hash browns into a pouch. Place over fire or on grill and let cook slowly until cheese is melted and potaotoes are tender. Best to "overcook" and a crispy crust of fried potatoes and cheese forms in bottom of foil pouch.

CAMPING TIP

Zip - off / convertible pants are great for hiking and camping - especially in times when weather is variable. It's so easy to change from long pants in the cool morning, to shorts when you or the weather gets warm. Zip back on in the cool evening.
