In a dutch oven, or heavy pot with lid, put in half of cake mix. Push against bottom and up sides of pot. Add peaches, juice and all. Cover with rest of cake mix, and pat down. Cut butter up in tablespoon size pieces and scatter over top. Put on lid and stick in camp fire for about an hour. This is by far the best peach cobbler I have ever had!!!
The kids in our group liked helping with this, especially dumping the peaches and spreading the cake mix evenly over the peaches making sure there were no lumps. The size can of peaches was not specified so I chose a large can ( not institutional!) and that made it peachy good! Ours was ready in about 20 minutes, so be careful.
When you set up a tarp to cover an area. Be sure to make the middle taller than the surrounding tarp. A pole or long stick will work. Otherwise you might have a suspended swimming pool if it rains.
