Walk Behind Me
camping recipe

Category: Rice and Grain Dishes   Rating: N/A
Backpacking: Yes Effort: average Serves: any Prep time: 30-60m

Ingredients:
  • lentils or split peas
  • dried veggies, carrot onion garlic etc.
  • spices, pick your own; I like dried herbs
  • sun-dried tomatoes
  • Meat, if you haven't caught fish
  • Biscuit and cornbread mix

How to Prepare:
After boiling the lentils, add other ingredients. Meanwhile mix up biscuit and cornbread combo and let set. When the stew is about ready, drop blobs of dumpling mix in. They are done when yer fillet knife doesn't come out from poking them, gooey.
If you can invert the lid of your pot that makes an excellent way to rehydrate veggies or jerky as a double boiler. This leaves more room for dumplings.
